Transparency International Albania (TIA) was founded in March of 2008, as a non-profit organization, aiming the fight against corruption in Albania, by promoting transparency and accountability of the governance.
Transparency International Albania’s mission is to increase the transparency of public institutions towards citizens and encourage public involvement in the fight against corruption.
Transparency International Albania intends to turn the fight against corruption in a civil action to contribute to the institutional democratization, good governance and building the rule of law.
TIA intends to serve as a model for the representation of the citizens’ interest and voice in dealing with the public administration, justice and local government.
IT Albania is part of the global civil society organization Transparency International. Through more than 100 national chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, TI works with partners in government, business and civil society to put to a world free of corruption.
Transparency International Albania in the recent years has implemented various activities to promote transparency and fight against corruption in the public administration, the judiciary and local administration. TIA’s activity was developed thanks to the support of the various governments and their state agencies across the globe, just to mention: the German Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the German Embassy in Albania, the Norwegian Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, the Embassy of Netherlands, USAID / DPK / CASALS, the European Commission, the World Bank, the British Council, Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA/SOROS) UNDP, UNICEF, CSSA , Transparency International Secretariat Berlin.
